McKibben Powersports of Lake Wales is an authorized Yamaha dealer at 20769 US 27 S, Lake Wales, FL 33853. We sell new Yamaha motorcycles, ATVs and side by sides, take trades on any brand, keep genuine Yamaha parts on the shelf, and service Yamaha machines in our own shop.
Yamaha covers more ground than most brands. The same showroom floor can hold an MT-07 for a commuter, a YZ250F for a teenager who races, a Grizzly for someone clearing brush on five acres outside Frostproof, and a Viking for a family that needs to move three people and a load of fence posts. Those are very different buyers, and they each need a different conversation.
This page covers the land side of the Yamaha lineup that we sell at this store: motorcycles, ATVs, side by sides and youth models. It explains how Yamaha compares with the other brands on our floor and what we check before we hand over the keys. If you are searching for a Yamaha for sale in Polk County, start here and then come ride.
New & Used Yamaha for Sale in Lake Wales
Stock turns over quickly and not every model is on the floor at once. Use this as a guide to the Yamaha families, then check live inventory or call to see what is here now or what we can order.
Street motorcycles
The MT family is Yamaha's naked range: MT-03, MT-07, MT-09 and MT-10. The YZF-R3, YZF-R7, YZF-R9 and YZF-R1 are the supersport versions. XSR700 and XSR900 give the same engines a retro look, and the Bolt R-Spec and V Star 250 cover cruisers.
Ténéré 700 and Tracer 9 handle adventure and sport touring. XT250, TW200 and WR125R are the small dual sports, and Zuma 125 and XMAX are the scooters for short town trips.
Grizzly and Kodiak ATVs
Grizzly EPS is the full size utility ATV, with electric power steering and the kind of pulling ability that suits towing a trailer of feed or a food plot drag. Kodiak 700 and Kodiak 450 are simpler and lighter, and a lot of owners find the Kodiak is all the machine they ever needed.
On the sport side, the Raptor 700 family and YFZ450R are built for riding, not chores, and they reward an experienced rider.
Wolverine, Viking and YXZ
Wolverine RMAX2 1000 and RMAX4 1000 are the recreation machines, comfortable enough for long trail days with two or four seats. Wolverine X2 and X4 850 are a little more compact. Viking EPS seats three across and Viking VI EPS seats six, and both are true work machines with a dump bed.
YXZ1000R is Yamaha's pure sport side by side with a manual sequential gearbox, and the SS versions add paddle shifting. It is a different animal from anything else in this list.
Dirt bikes and youth models
YZ bikes are the motocross range, from the YZ65 and YZ85 for young racers to the YZ125, YZ250F and YZ450F. The FX and WR models are set up for cross country and woods riding, and TT-R230 is the easygoing trail bike for adults.
For kids, PW50, TT-R50E and TT-R110E are classic first bikes, and the YFZ50 and Raptor 110 are youth ATVs with parental controls. Ask us to walk you through those settings when you pick it up.
Yamaha Compared With Polaris, Honda and Kawasaki
We sell five major brands in this building, so the comparisons below are the same ones we walk customers through in person. None of these machines is bad. The right one depends on your property, your riders and what you do with it most weeks.
Viking or Wolverine vs RANGER and Pioneer
For pure work, the Viking lines up against the Polaris RANGER and the Honda Pioneer. The Viking's three across bench and the six seat Viking VI suit crews, the RANGER has the widest range of trims and accessories, and the Pioneer has clever seating options on some models. The Wolverine RMAX is closer to a Polaris GENERAL or a Kawasaki RIDGE, a machine that works on Tuesday and rides trails on Saturday.
Grizzly vs Sportsman, FourTrax and Brute Force
Grizzly, Polaris Sportsman, Honda FourTrax, Kawasaki Brute Force and Suzuki KingQuad all do the same basic job. Differences show up in the steering feel, the seat, how the machine engine brakes on a slope and how easy the controls are with gloves on. Ride at least two on the same day and the choice gets obvious.
MT and YZF vs the other street bikes
The MT-07 and MT-09 are the bikes most often cross-shopped with the Kawasaki Z range and the Suzuki SV650 and GSX-8S. Yamaha's triples and twins feel lively and eager. Sit on each and pay attention to the seat, the reach to the bars and your feet at a stop.
For more detail on the other brands, see our Polaris dealer page, Honda dealer page, Kawasaki dealer page and Suzuki dealer page.
Yamaha Service and Parts in Lake Wales
Our technicians handle Yamaha motorcycles, ATVs and side by sides on site: first services, oil and filters, valve adjustments, belt and clutch work on the Wolverine and Viking, differential fluids, brakes, tires, suspension, chain and sprocket replacement, electrical diagnosis and warranty repairs.
In this part of Florida the service items that catch owners out are predictable. Air filters load up with fine sand much faster than the book expects. Side by sides and ATVs that cross standing water after a summer storm can pull water into the belt housing and the differentials. Dirt bikes ridden hard in sand eat chains, sprockets and top end parts. Staying ahead of those costs far less than catching up.
We stock genuine Yamaha parts and accessories and can order anything that is not on the shelf. Roofs, windshields, winches, plows and storage boxes can be installed before delivery so the machine is ready to work the day you take it home.
Financing, Trades and Yamaha Programs
Most side by sides and a good share of motorcycles are financed. You can start a credit application online before you come in, which saves time at the desk. Rate, term and approval depend on credit and are not guaranteed.
Yamaha offers its own promotional financing and customer programs at different points in the year, and they have end dates. Rather than print something here that may already have expired, call and ask what is running on the model you are looking at.
We take trades on Yamaha and every other brand. A machine with records, a clean title and good tires will always be worth more than one that has been parked, so bring what paperwork you have.

Utility first, fun second
If the machine will spend most of its life hauling, towing and checking fence, a Viking or a Grizzly will serve you better than a Wolverine or a YXZ. If most weekends are spent on trails with family, the Wolverine RMAX4 makes more sense. Be honest about the split, because it decides the right machine.
Measure your gates and trailer
Grove rows, cattle gates and the trailer you already own all limit how wide and long a side by side can be. Measure them before you shop. A six seat Viking VI is fantastic until it will not fit on your trailer.
A first street bike
The MT-03, YZF-R3 and XSR700 are all friendly starting points. Low speed control matters more than top speed for new riders, and traffic on US 27 moves quickly, so pick something you can handle calmly. Sit on it before you buy and make sure both feet land where you need them.
Youth riders
Match the bike or ATV to the rider's size and skill, not their age alone. Yamaha youth models have throttle limiters that you set. Florida restricts where riders under 16 may operate off-highway vehicles on public land and requires protective gear, so ask us and confirm current state rules first. If you want an even smaller first machine, see our Hammerhead Off-Road® go-kart page.
Buying a used Yamaha
On a side by side or ATV, read the hour meter and ask when the belt and fluids were last done. Check for sand and water in the clutch cover area and play in the ball joints. On a bike, look at tire dates, the chain, fork seals and the service history. Ask us what we checked and what has been replaced on any pre-owned unit.
Serving Yamaha Owners Across Central Florida
Our Lake Wales store on US 27 South is the practical choice if you want a Yamaha dealer near Winter Haven, Haines City, Bartow, Dundee, Lake Hamilton, Babson Park, Frostproof, Auburndale or Lakeland. Plenty of our customers come down from Davenport, Poinciana and the Kissimmee and Orlando side, and from Sebring and Avon Park to the south.

Yamaha Questions We Get Asked
Is McKibben Powersports an authorized Yamaha dealer in Lake Wales?
Yes. McKibben Powersports of Lake Wales is an authorized Yamaha dealer at 20769 US 27 S, Lake Wales, FL 33853. We sell new Yamaha motorcycles, ATVs and side by sides, register factory warranties, stock genuine Yamaha parts, and perform Yamaha service and warranty work in our own shop. Call 863.676.2245 for current stock.
What is the difference between a Yamaha Viking and a Wolverine?
The Viking is a utility side by side built for work, with a dump bed and bench seating for three, or six in the Viking VI. The Wolverine is a recreation machine with more comfortable seats and suspension for trail riding, offered in two and four seat versions. Choose based on what the machine does most weeks.
Is the Yamaha Grizzly or Kodiak better for a Florida property?
For most small to mid size Florida properties, a Kodiak 450 or Kodiak 700 handles feed runs, fence checks and light towing well. The Grizzly EPS makes sense if you tow heavier loads, work soft sand or wet ground often, or spend long days in the seat, where the extra power and electric power steering help most.
Do you sell Yamaha youth ATVs and dirt bikes?
Yes. Yamaha builds youth models such as the PW50, TT-R50E and TT-R110E dirt bikes and the YFZ50 and Raptor 110 ATVs, and we can sell and set them up. Availability varies, so call ahead. Ask us to walk you through the speed limiting controls and gear at pickup.
Can you service a Yamaha I bought somewhere else?
Yes. Our service department works on Yamaha motorcycles, ATVs and side by sides regardless of where they were purchased, including maintenance, belt and clutch work, tires, suspension and diagnosis. Bring your service history and any warranty paperwork so we can check what is due and what may still be covered.
